Ramona Denise Thompson at birth, but affectionately known as Nadiyah Casey through adoption, is a truth-teller, survivor, mother, and warrior.
Born in 1977 to a 12-year-old girl who had no choice but to give her up, Ramona’s life began in pain—but it did not end there. A survivor of foster care, adoption trauma, and generational abuse, Ramona found her power through storytelling, healing, and helping others rise from their broken beginnings.
Now based in Jacksonville, Florida, she is a dedicated leader, advocate for women, and lifelong student of faith, identity, and resilience. She Had a Name is her debut memoir—a soul-baring, history-honoring account of her journey from silence to selfhood.
